I'm wanting to fit the new style drl style headlights to my 09 gti.
I've heard of the ones from eBay but can I get good quality ones anywhere online ?
I'm looking for the factory look not aftermarket

In a word 'No'!

I am the same as you, really want them as brings the frint of the car nag uptodate, but I have looked everywhere and while there are some OK non OEM looking ones which I am sure work fine, really are not a patch on VW's.

Just wish I had ticked that box when ordering now...

There's guy in Canada that sells replacements (becautoparts, his name is ED - edward@becautoparts.com), these use halogen bulbs or you can fit xenon bulbs. He used to advertise right hand drive versions as well.

Parts4euro also sell them, but do not say if they have right hand drive.

I quite like the look and am thinking of getting some later.

But they have separate dip and main beam lights with a little indicator squashed in between them, not like the OEM lights that have a Bi-xenon outer light and a big indicator where the main beam light is on the fake ones.

The other issue with having to fit an HID conversion kit in them, is that the ballasts always take a while to reach full power. I used to have a kit in my Passat, but have recently swapped them for genuine Bi-xenons. They spark up straight away. Much better.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Not sure as to whether I am a fan or not.  I think its maybe because there are far too many cars with the cheap aftermarket ones and it has sort of tarnished the actual DRL's a little bit.
