I am pretty sure you can get r style ones from your local VW dealer......saw something on our intranet a few months back for golf and polo.

Not sure as to whether I am a fan or not.  I think its maybe because there are far too many cars with the cheap aftermarket ones and it has sort of tarnished the actual DRL's a little bit.

Was very much a concern for me when buying mine but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with the look. Very OEM look to them, not like a row of LEDs on a piece of cable with I assume you mean, each LEDs has its own housing same as OEM. Only thing is the LEDs are slightly bluer, but to anyone looking at them you would not know unless parked next to an OEM set. I seen it as a hassle free quick fix to the halogens at a fraction of the price.

I must admit they do look very good.

I second Kenneth's reply. I had similar ones on my '10 GiT and although the DRL's look a little blue, I now quite like them and am happy overall
