That quote seems about right for me, You have to consider that those jobs are labour intensive.
Sure you can do it for a fraction of that if you DIY as you'd only be paying for parts.

Garages have overheads unlike a home mechanic, Factor that in and the quote isn't so bad.

Weather or not your car actualy needed all that work is another question.

Agreed.

Especially as i've seen people get quotes of like £250 just for rear axle bushes on here. It isn't cheap but id hardly say he has been shafted, especially if they've fitted a new steering rack. Id be more pissed off in 12 months when it fails on the same stuff again because they fitted eurocarparts rubbish.

Ok got the car back and I have to say it feels soooooooo much nicer to drive, the knocking on the front (I posted about a week ago asking what this could be) turned out it was in the end the passenger shock, he even showed me the shock and beleave me when i say it was fooked.

Before Id take corner at normal speed and if i hit a tiny bump my steering wheel would shake quiet voilently I knew there had to be something wrong somewhere.

I always knew my rear axle bushes where shot and they have been for awhile every tiny bump sounded like a loud BANG in the back.

But driving my car home it really did feel like a brand new car i even put the windows down, when over a sleeping policeman and listened to my new shock hiss lovely as my car took the bump with ease :)

In total I had new...
* Rear Axle bushes.
* MOT.
* Tracking.
* New rear brakes.
* New Track rod ends.
* New wishbone bushes.
* New Front shocks.
* New front shock mounts.
* Something about nos arm?.

And the laybour was £210.

in my honest opinion I say its money well spent with the VAT it all totaled £505 however I also got a warrenty with the work :)

Reasonable price for the work that was done  :smiley:
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

I'd say the labour was fairly reasonable, there were a fair few sh!tty jobs there that needed doing.  They've over charged big time on the parts though!
