Hey lads what's the lowest you can go on standard shocks fitted with lowering springs?? Or the alternative seriously what are those JOM coilovers like??

jom are ok for the money but if you can afford it get summat a bit better they are ok for budget lows i aint reall had any probs with mine but wouldnt mind a better set if im honest
i went for 40mm springs on standard shocks and it wasnt low enough for me as i wanted a bit more


 i drive a golf thats why im skint!!!!


losing interest in the golf and now not so skint !!!!!

Cheers cully... So no dramas then... Hmm yes money is an issue at the moment trying to save but it's driving me insane so I thought a lil shopping for the AUQ wouldn't do any harm lol

if going down the spring route just replace the top mounts and bearings same if you get the coils to  :smiley:

I ran 30mm springs on standard shocks for a few weeks and the ride was awful, the car felt really unsettled in the corners so I replaced them with JOM coilovers and have never looked back.

Around 35mm but the shocks will not last long so your better fitting a matched kit instead of doing the job twice.

na i dont believe that i went 40mm with no probs at all for well over a year not even a rub on the arb there seems to be a lot of old wives myths on here but not enough ppl actually trying it first just to add my shocks were still original parts so 14 year old  :wink:

Standard shocks are designed to work at standard height, lowering springs fitted will shorten lifespan.

i dont doubt it at all im saying i never had any probs luck of the draw i suppose  :smiley:
