Anyone ever seen this happen before?

I made the mistake of taking the car to a cowboy car washer (it was covered in bird sh!t). Could a high power pressure washer do this?

Apparently only £10 (part only) to replace....which is reassuring.

I wouldn't have thought the high-powered jet washer could have done this, but maybe the acidic bird crap had eaten away at the rubber. This time of year the birdies eat many berries, meaning that their waste contain acidic material. How long had you left the crap there before having it washed...?

4 days maximum. Imagine an idiot with a high pressure washer, at about 1cm from the rubber....? Could it do this? (Obviously I ll never be going there again!)

Glad to hear that it won't hurt your wallet too much to replace. Just out of interest, could this also be covered by the free windscreen-crack repairs offered by insurers..?

There's your problem! one of those petrol powered jetwashes could easily do that. Lesson learned though aye?

Certainly is a case of lesson learnt...was trying to weigh up the pros and cons of getting that bird sh!t off...and they were the only ones open on a Sunday eve.

Definitely jetwash. I took a chunk out my last cars trim although it wasn't as uneven and rough as yours but I could imagine the cowboy trying to get all the bird crap off and going in close enough to cause the damage.

carry a few old MF towels and a bottle of quick detailer in the boot for bird poo/tar/sap situations
