Oil Catch Can problem
« on: 29 July 2012, 21:31 »
hey guys,

im getting all the parts order for my catch can, n249 bypass and carbon canister delete.

problem though. just been checking and wonder what people have done to their connections to the oil filter housing?

have you removed the old connection and put in a block breather adaptor in like this

http://www.034motorsport.com/engine-components-18t-block-breather-adapter-audivw-18t-p-392.html

and what type of adaptor did they purchase, such as -10AN or a -12AN or if there are any alternatives?

this is a head scratcher for me as i havent found anything else

many thanks!

they only seem to do 19mm - 16mm reducer, my think is that when it comes to removing the catch can for emptying then i dont have to battle with taking the hose off? i have some small jubilee clips i can put on the connectors for the can and hose, thoughts on this?

Bringing back memories,

I used 19mm id to 16mm id reducer.
I used the 16mm pipe to the 15mm outlet on my ebay catch can.

Jubilee clipped it down tight enough mate

Yes Master

i was thinking this was ok but i'm currently sitting here arguing with my mate saying i should get a bigger reducer for a stiffer connection...

cheers for that Jamie

ive got a ebay job with the can but gonna save up for a forge one later on, im just tired of no boost and know it'll cause problems with the remap with R-tech on my way back from scotland

No problem mate,
To be honest the ebay catch can is perfect for me im not going to bother upgrading it.

The 19mm to 16mm reducers are bloody tight anyhow I still used jubilee clips though.

The 16mm pipe fitted over the 15mm easy and with a good jubilee clip over that you wont be able to pull off or have any vacuum leaks.
