once your over 100k you dont wana be using super thin oils, i could get 530 for free but choose to use 10,40 and its just been abit nicer to a old engine, may i ask why people are choosing to use 0,30?  wouldnt dream of puting that in a 1.8t way too thin,

My mk4 AUM only has 35k and even though it's 12 years old the engine is still quite young so I should stick to 5w40, right?  But just to be extra I think I'll use the thicker 10w40 anyway unless someone here knows it'll be bad for me.

So in summary to this whole thread, the best oil is the VW quantum 5w40 and for higher milers it's best to use the thicker 10w40.

I would stick with 5w40, I see no need to switch with higher miles.

It makes sense Wayne.  It's kind of hard to be sure after reading this entire thread I must say
