No point owing it if you don't drive it

Sweeping statement! I see my car every day, polished and safe in the garage, out of the elements that can quickly deteriorate, sunlight can do as much damage as acid rain. I savour the times when I get an unexpected chance to take the Golf for some very quick A road driving, my car gets driven very hard!
If my car got driven regularly, then I would have lost interest ages ago! It would have deteriorated, and would have well over 100k on the clock by now, I would have sold it ages ago

FFS Its a car!

A car to some a hobby obsession to others.......it's like a good pair of shoes, some people save them for best others say f... It and wear them out walking across the moors.

Good analogy that.

Just looking at it is good enough for me. Knowing it's mine and no one elses.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

To own anything and not use it is pretty pointless imo, be it a car or shoes. I use mine everyday, freighted up with tools and drills etc, to and from work, thrashed to within an inch of its life, then highly maintained to the highest of standards at weekends. Used and abused and still cleaner than most

As already said, a car is pointless if you dont drive it so how about finding a good excuse to drive it and enter some sprints at Curborough, I want to see how I do against a comparable car . As for the excuse of the weather, pah, this is what underseal and cleaning it is for   if thats what your into.

I own mine as a piece of automotive greatness, I like others to see it and remember the day..it's for the future I care for it .. it's not a van for carrying tools, I hope it will be around in another 24 years. I have other toys for thrashing.... Much more fun than the golf.

I've got an 8 year old Passat V6TDI Estate for doing that. Well maybe minus the thrashed part.

I've done about 2000 miles since last November when I got it. I look after it but also use it. Doesn't get used in the rain if I can avoid it but that's been impossible this year so it's had some good soakings.

It's off to the bodyshop tomorrow to sort out the rear hatch. I'd say it's 95% anyway but I want it 100% so it'll disappear for a week to e-emerge as a piece of automotive brilliance!!!

I like this analogy - But unlike a pair of shoes - you can get a MK2 fixed when you wear them out and I don't seem to remember any shoes that you class as an "Iconic" pair and stick away in the wardrobe for 10 year (unless you were Imelda Marcos  or own a pair of Jimmy Chose - but most of us are blokes...).

Also a MK2 NEEDS using or they just seize up...

How many shoes need 100K to break in and get the best out of them?????

No disrespect to anyone, but I must have thrown £6K at my MK2 since I bought her, and I still use it as my daily hack and she would still put most "Show Cars" to shame....

So Why hide her??

I think she should be shown off and appreciated by those who know what they are looking at... Yes I keep the mileage as low as I can - BUT still use her 3-4 times a week...

Just My Thoughts....

Why do people refer to cars as 'her?'
