Best way to tackle this issue...pics enclosed
« on: 20 July 2012, 21:09 »
Hi All,

Noticed that I was letting in water through the pollen filter/heater fan area.

Thought it was possibly the drainage areas but after looking quickly noticed the issue...

Now, is this seal a part of the scuttle or the windscreen?

Many thanks
Andy

What I think is happening is the water is going through the gaps onto the pollen filter and into the car that way? or do I have overlooked something?

The water is running into the car from the left so just assumed I had found the issue?

I wouldnt say that seal is critical,my scuttle has no fixings and the seal is not tight against,my car dry as a bone even with all this mega rain, have you got any rust above the screen or checked the gasket under the filter?

I have not had the scuttle off yet to investigate more - I take it I have to take the wiper arms off and the big black screws?

Pollen filter housing sounds a good bet as of the location of the water getting in?

Yeah them screws are a pita  hope ya find the culprit my leak was rust hole above the screen ,water would run down the side of the screen and drip down from between the a post and dash ,could see rust stains in the gap

Will have a poke around over the weekend, may be a good idea to stick my head under the passenger side dash as a trusty associate soaks me with water! ;)
