theirs other bits you have missed too depending what engine code you have.. so i would'nt expect it as plain sailing (no pun intended haha) as you think

lucky enough iv got friends who work at gsf, audi and vw so can get trade prices
im just getting a bill when its done and going from there! hah

I've got trade accounts, still she adds up quickly. But it can be done cheap enough if u get a bargain of a donner car

I agree with kells. There are loads of little things that add up and if you want it done PROPERLY then it costs much more. If I was to do it again, I'd want to replace all the sensors with new genuine, same with pumps, gaskets, belts, etc. Saves a lot more hassle down the line, trust me!!!

yeap i changed everything on mine, and do the same on all others i do now because recently we did a mk4 non turbo to 1.8T using customers own donor etc, i told him to change everything but he wanted cheap option and just to swap it all over so thats what we did

i did clean it all so it looked ace but i told him i was not responsible for sensors or belts going wrong. also told him the K03S was passing oil quite bad and needed rebuild which is much easier to do when engine is out of the car...

guess what, car has been nothing but hassle with sensors going wrong, leaking turbo which i told him to have re built (£ a few hundred quid !!) no boosting issues due to split pipes etc.. all stuff i told him to replace.. 

he is now having to do stuff which would have been p1ss easy to do when the engine was out and regretting not taking my advice

I can vouch for that advice! I learned the hard way and have had most things go wrong. On the plus, I have learned a lot and don't make the same mistake twice (maybe twice, but not for the 3rd time )
