1.8t conversion

I have had a garage offer to sell and convert my car to a 1.8t engine for £700.... But theyre are on about using the mk4 box and drive shafts.... I have only read about people using 16v gti mk3 boxes.... Us this doable?

ive read people use the mk4 box, £700 sounds rather cheap though, are you sure thats right?

Yeah £700 drive in drive out but would put me on 5 stud so still need to cOnvert back to 4 stud.... Mates rates and there cheap as chips anyway

Itll all be standrd stuff so know show car but im gonna save my pennys and do it

Well you need a custom downpipe made up, which isn't standard and 2.5" bore, so you need to really get a whole 2.5" system.

Im not sure about doing it on standard exhaust.

700 drive in out is mega cheap

I read F17's a while back and decided on doing a 16v to start and aim for a 1.8t at a later date.... £700 seems to good to be true. I will check out his plans first!

for £700 the garage would surely lose money over it unless its a very shoddy job, I know I wouldn't wanna drive it! Even if they had a free donar car I'd bet it would cost more than £700 and that's without even charging for labour

also pretty sure mk4 driveshafts are a different length to mk3 ones, to use a mk4 box you need to change the input flanges on the gearbox to mk3 ones

The standard of workmanship for £700 would worry me.
