Zinc plate will no way ever last aslong or be as strong as stainless, Infact I dare say they would corrode after time
The overbraid is not for show its to keep the lines firm I was told by the guy at HEL

Where I work we use zink nickle plate and its used on cheap valves. The better valves are always stainless steel, 316, F51 etc

I wouldn't say no to having them on the car but I'd still
Rather have the stainless versions

I aint fussed tbh.

I hear you about the zinc, it is a low price anti corrosion surface treatment and will wear through after a time but using stainless does not automatically make things stronger. Cast low carbon steel is generally more durable than billet machined stainless it just corrodes and looks sh!t.
The over braid is for protecting the ptfe/composite inner hose from abrasion and damage from heat or strikes in tough environments, the hoop strength of the hose is defined by the weave and layer of the different materials at the core of the hose and not the outer casing, if it is not bonded into the hose itself it is not for support
If you undo the hoses in the picture you will most likely find the braid is crimped just inside the nut.

this is the mk4 rear caliper http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK4-Bora-Passenger-Side-Rear-Brake-Caliper-N-S-SEAT-SKODA-AUDI-/321077785061?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+IV&hash=item4ac1ba31e5

you should get a pair for around £30-40 and they are alum rather than steel and have less issues with seizures. hand brake cables fit stright on but they use different hose connectors hence needed the goodridge conversion hoses (or kit)

Ok so little update
I got the calipers from a bora (look exactly same as the top link) cleaned them up and sprayed them red (anniversary standards)
Now i had a look at the link again as i ordered some dust seals for the piston but they was wrong (thats another thing)
Thing is that the ad says the dism size for that caliper is 9mm solid but the mk3gti rears are 10mm. Will i have any issues with fitting my 10mm discs?
