caliper rebuild kits, where from?
« on: 16 July 2012, 13:15 »
As above. Had a search but couldnt find where i could get the rebuild kit from. As my rear passanger caliper is seized up and they all need a refurb. Will be acid dipping them and getting them powder coated. Also which calipers do i have? LUCAS or ATE? Cars an anniversary 8v

also could anyone recommend a place local in bham please?

thanks all

The brand is usually stamped on the caliper itself.

You can buy seal kits from main dealer. The last one's i bought were around £16 ,enough seals for both rears. If you need pistons as well i have no idea.

Easier in the long run to buy a recon caliper.

well spoke to dealer & they said they dont them & wanted to sell a caliper to me.
I rather refur them buy a kit than calipers as i will be refurbing them myself.

I have ford Callipers on the rear of my MK3, service kit was under a tenner a side.
Not sure what ford they are from, they are identical to the VW one except for a weight arm which hangs off them.
Its an easy job to do providing the hydraulic assembly is not to worn or damaged

Thats interesting, as on the rear of mine I have one ford caliper and one vw for some reason.
