I hate my job...
« on: 13 July 2012, 01:31 »
Should have finished work at 5pm as per.  Just got out of the door at 1am due to some "problems", they kept the entire team in because one of our client's messed up big time.

8 hours over time.  £0 pay.

to be fair you dont want to give them an excuse for them to hate you and get rid of you by not doing your overtime, as im sure theres plenty of other people lining up for jobs these days

Unfortunately these things happen mate.

I hope you're not going in at your normal time, as an office worker I think you're supposed to have 8 hours (may be less) off between "shifts".

You are also not supposed to work more than 12 hours a shift either...

I would probably push for a 'day in lieu' for yesterday. A whole day off is more useful than rolling in at 10:00 this morning. Unless you can get both..

What industry do you work in?

I think you are allowed to work more but you need to sign a decleration form that you understand and are willing to work longer hours. I had to was asked to fill one out when I started working.

We don't normally get overtime but we are allowed to bank the hours & take them in lieu, although they have now told us we can get time & 1/3 in the busy summer period.
