I cleaned the MAF with the Halfords stuff, and so far so good. The red bit on the metal wire frame was a bit of red stringy fluff. I pulled it out with some tweezers without touching the metal wire frame!
I have cleared the codes, all three of them, as I had the infamous 17705 code come up since last check. So now I am going to go and sort it, as I do believe the boost issues are related to the T piece on the N112 valve, which leaves one of the ports open on the valve (because I snapped it

) But now I just received my new N112 valve and I am off to fit it
