hi im new to vw an to turbo cars. i have a 52 plate 1.8 turbo gti an very happy with it but the evaporative emission canister purge regulator valve is making a funny noise every now an then, like a struggling pump sort of noise do i need to worry about it? cheers

if it is ticking all the time be very careful as it could blow up and destroy your engine  :shocked:

I have finally had the carbon canister delete epiphany  :grin:  :laugh:  with the help and advice from others on this forum  :smiley: so I am going to bin mine tomorrow  :smiley:  
Mods: R-Tech custom remap, Beachbuggy K250 Turbo, Forge 007 DV, RAMAIR Jetstream 108 induction filter, silicone piping throughout, R-Tech Supersize TIP, 42 Draft Stealth Catch Can, N249 bypass, Ported Manifold, Toyo Sports FMIC with 2 & 1/2 pipes, Custom made full turbo back exhaust & 2 & 1/2 " downpipe and 200 cell sports cat. BAM injectors, Turbosmart Boost Gauge, BBS CK Wheels, 312mm Brembo front discs and pads, Carbon canister delete and last of all, a liquid cube!

Remove it completley mate, Block off inlet, block off turbo intake pipe too.
I pulled the connector off the canistor itself and split the sensor so its still connected but doesnt tick and tidied it away.

The whole point is to clean up engine bay, reduce pipes which im sure are all under vaccum. Ohh and stop the annoying ticking noise.
1.6-1.8t AGU K03s, Forge actuator, Forge 007p, turbo back exhuast, Ths front mount, Catch can, 5 piece silicone boost pipes and creation sports tip. Stage 2 atm 232bhp 270lbs. Waiting for custom mapping :-)

cheers guys. does it make any difference having a recirculating dump valve or a non recirculating apart from the noise?  also is it worth fitting a front mounted intercooler?
 

ive just read that i must fit a recirculating valve, is that true? i have a AUM engine i think

Welcome mate, yeah recirc is best if you don't want running issues, front mount is only necessary if goin for bigger power, or you got money to spunk...... Which u must have as you've bought a golf  :laugh:
