Hi All

Could some one please tell me if there is a way to tell visually the difference between a 1.8l 16v and a 2.0l 16v?

here is a photo of the engine

Thanks

The block is embossed with either 1.8 or 2.0.

Have a flick through the project pages and make a comparism with someone who has done a conversion. I understand the 2.0 litre is a taller block so you should see a difference. If I was a gambling man I'd say that was a very clean 1.8.

If your looking at buying the car then does the seller have a reciept for the conversion or engine. That would be a good place to start if in doubt.

From your pic, that's a standard 1.8.

2.0 Abf has crank sensor in the front down near oil filter, though the 2.0 9a / 1.8 kr won't. You could also check the blocks stamp on the front! Kr/9a/abf

That is a 1.8 16v as stated by the other guys, you can also tell by the inlet manifold as on the 2.0 abf inlet manifold the top half goes further round the engine before it meets the bottom half then the 1.8 kr one does, compare the two and you will see what I mean.

it could be a 9a or 6a as well

manifold means nothing really as you can run the abf/9a/6a on the kr kjet system

This^

The only way to check is get round the block and get the number/displacement.
