MK4 Gti 2.0 (2000 W Reg) won't start

Hi,

Today my car refused to start, hooked it up to a Vag Com & the following error code was shown:


18034 -  Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from TCU
            P1626 - 35-00 -   -

Clearing the code hasn't helped, and googling around doesn't seem to have a solution or at least a consistent one. The car is a manual not an automatic, I have checked the fuses as suggested in another thread, an although the car did start when changing Fuse 15, it hasn't started again since.

My knowledge of cars is limited, but I can follow instructions if there are some. I jut wanted to ask if anyone had any suggestions before calling the AA to tow me to a garage.

Again knowledge is limited, how would one go about testing each bit you mentioned?
