iPod interface for RNS510
« on: 01 July 2012, 23:47 »
The car I've just picked up has no iPod connectivity.
My last car had the media interface in the armrest and the song names etc used to be displayed on the radio screen.
Is there a retrofit iPod interface which displays the song titles? Not bothered about it being in the armrest - the glovebox would be fine... But I'd like to see the song titles and it must charge it too!

I fiited one of these into a Skoda Superb last week. Can recommed it or the sellers highly enough.

So am I correct in understanding that if you were to buy this VW RNS 510 MFD3 D head unit:

You then need to also buy a:

To beable to connect your iphone up to your car speakers? That's a pretty expensive job! Would have thought they'd have an Aux in on the RNS 510 unit as standard to be honest when you're paying that sort of money. VW themselves even charge like 2 grand for it don't they?

Cars that have the option of the RNS from the factory will have the Media In fitted as standard. If you are retro fitting it into a car that has neither, then I'm affraid that's what you are going to have to do.

Indeed it seems so, I also found out that the RNS units don't have bluetooth so you have to buy yet another kit at around £100 cheapest off Ebay to get that feature aswell...

Really like you to spend money don't they.
