Double chamber to single chamber the results (pics)

yeah i thought the wiring was diferant. i aint bothered about light output as i will just stick in better bulbs.
so what type of wiring problems could i have?

I am not 100% sure but the circuit will be different, you may even need to switch back to a base spec lighting loom.

On the lower spec single chamber cars, when you whack on full beam dipped beam goes out as its the same bulb.

ah right i see. sod it then i will just fly eye my gti ones then 
so how come vento lights can just plug and play then? ain they the same as single chamber lights just a slitely differant shape?

Well I bought some single chamber headlights from a cl and they just plugged in and they work fine and mines a gti

When I had my 1.4 I fitted Gti dual chamber lights and they were plug & play. Worked without any problems at all.

You can fit single chamber ones instead of GTI, wiring loom is pretty much the same, except at a certain age they changed from square to oval ones.
BUT you will need to remove a wiring bridge from you electric box, otherwise you dipped beam won't go off when you go to full beam - i.e. bulbs will burn out very often.

The bridge you'll need to remove is the one next to relais 53 - the reverse C shaped one....

Ah right o I just remove that and the headlights will work fine as normal? Will I still have full beam aswell?

Yes they'll still work as normal, the bridge is only for keeping the dipped beam on when you turn full one on to give you more light (like is the case if you only flash you full beams BTW).
That is no problem, nor illegal with dual ones, but with single ones it was never fitted because they would be too bright (illegal) and more importantly your bulbs would keep burning out when using full beam.

You'd be going into Halfords every other week for a new set of bulbs.
