Does the top mounting bush need replacing, 
Or why dont you take the other side off if thats ok,
And take them apart at same time and see if everything is the same,,

It must be 7 cause iv tried 6,8mm neither. Tried everyone I have metric and imperial, 7 is the only one I don't have!!

You can get a brake key from halfords which is 7mm, I had to buy one when I did mine, that's how I remembered the size, some old Vauxhalls had 7mm hex caliper slide bolts. Such an awkward size.

Cheers Jim, have to get one as I have a knocking noise comming from that area. Iv checked everything I can but to no avail so it's time ti take the shock off and check my top mount, just when you think your done!!!!

+1 on the calliper bolt key. Bought one from Halfrauds to do my calipers, fits the top mount nut as well.

That wanky slotted nut kept coming loose on mine no matter how tight it was.
Replaced it with mk3 spring plates and top mounts and a normal nut. Job done, no more messing about with a hammer and screwdriver. They are far superior to the mk2 mounts.
