Will a standard 1.6 exhaust fit a 1.8?

Hii am trying to find a reqsonably priced exhaust for my 1.8 aam eutomatic golf. I was wondering if there is any difference between the 1.6 exhausts to the 1.8 and if they are compatible. They look very similar but the part numbers are different.

1.6 uses a smaller bore.... but can be made to fit (full system) from the cat back with a connector/reducer piece

Why buy a 1.6 exhaust? If you want a cheap exhaust go on ebay and buy one that fits....

And which 1.6 / 1.8 are we talking about?

If you take 75PS versions of 1.6 and 1.8 the mid- and end silcencer are the same. 1.6 100PS uses the same bore as 2.0 115PS (at least on the estate).

ECU won't know which one you have connected... as long as you're not trying to fit one from a less powerful engine (i.e. smaller bore) you're OK

I am trying to find acheap one but not having much luck on ebay. Maybe just dont know where to look!

which one do you need? midbox or end, or both?
what is "cheap" for you?

I found some for 60£ for both of them together on ebay? But suspect they are cheapest sh!t, fairly decent system should be around 100£.
Not really a lot of money...
