No Brake Lights!
« on: 14 June 2005, 21:06 »
As above they don't seem to be working anymore.

What should I check? Is there a fuse just for these? DO the switches on the peddle have a habit of busting and is it easy to test it?

ANything else to look for as the likely problem?

CHeers,

Nick

the switch can get a bit stcky, have a play with it. its a plunger type switch that pops out as you push the pedal so i suppose the plunger could be getting stuck in the housing?
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post

bridge the two connectors together from the brake light switch, if you have lights - switch is fooked

Turns out it was just the 10amp fuse.

I'm surprised at the germans on this one. Surely putting the brake lights on a their own fuse is silly. Unless someone tells you they've gone, you'd never know. If you put the, on the same circuit as say the head lights you'd soon know the fuse was gone!

It maybe because the brake lamp circuits on VWs are wired to work even when the ignition is off where as the Head lamps are fed via the X relief relay (as well as the wipers, horn, heater fan and the heated rear window) :undecided:
