sump

im having an oil change done this weekend as the car has never had one whilst ive owned it

but whilst im at it, im getting the sump resealed as well as ive got a leak

question is, is it a gasket or sealant?

No gasket on the sump just sealant, iirc its almost £20 a tube

:afro: well worth doing, only going to cost around £12 in parts and could save your engine in the long run.

in the sump there is an oil pickup pipe its got a filter on it that can get blocked and starve the engine of oil resulting in a seized engine etc so worth getting it changed while the sump is off  :smiley:

or if you dont wana change the pick up pipe just clean it out :) i changed mine as it was about a tenner for new pipe from vw
