Holiday ideas to Greece for this summer
« on: 20 June 2012, 10:46 »
Me and my girlfriend are planning on going on holiday this summer to Greece. We're looking at going around the first week of September, when it's towards the end of the party season and a bit cheaper but also a bit more couples/family orientated.
We want a good hotel, in a family orientated place. We're not interested in the Zante/Napa/Malia clubbing scene, we're going for sightseeing, sunbathing, quad biking, etc.

Obviously we want to spend as little as possible. Can anyone recommend a good place to go (one of the Greek islands preferably, rather than inland), where we can do the above for a good price?

Edit: Oh and if you can recommend a website to search/book the holiday it'd be great

Go to Lesvos, it's beautiful
I've been on a few family holidays there, and there's plenty to do and see.
Me and my dad have rented motorbikes over there, which are spot on for getting yourself or a +1 around.

Santorini is nice and has black volcanic beaches and you can fly there direct from UK.

Also if you do fancy a night of partying ios is the next island along.

I've been to Egypt for my last 5 holidays so me and my girlfriend fancy a change. We've booked Zakynthos (Zante) for 2 weeks towards the end of August/beginning of September. I've found a nice hotel in Kalamaki called Venus Hotel, it's ranked high on Trip Advisor and doesn't seem rowdy at all, in fact it's pretty small, but that's fine as we'll spend most of the time away from the hotel anyway. We're going to do some sightseeing, perhaps some quad biking too, a few nights out but nothing too mad and I plan on doing 4-5 days scuba diving, most likely wrecks and reefs but we'll see. I'm considering renting a car but it's pretty expensive to just be sat around while we're on boats. I feel like I should be out partying every night being 22 but in essence I think there's so much better stuff to be doing than spending the entire holiday drunk or hungover. I could do that in my bedroom if I wanted
