front subframe rear bushes
« on: 16 June 2012, 13:48 »
mine need changing! (not the rear wishbone bushes, the ones behind just for the subframe), anyone done the job?

Had a quick search and mk1 audi tt ones seem to be the ones to go for. I saw a pic and they are in two bits so wouldn't need pressing in, whereas I believe the mk4 one's would. Is this correct?

also, can the subframe be lowered enough without having to loosen stuff like the rack?

cheers

the tt ones are crap, try polybush ones (44AT Front, Subframe to Chassis Rear Bush) http://www.polybush.co.uk/shop/538_Volkswagen

can you elaborate?

my concern with that is with the mounts effectively being part of the rear engine mount, poly bushes will vibrate too much with the engine being a diesel. Same reason I went with the ths dogbone and not poly

thought it would be the other way round!

it's hard to tell from the pic, are the poly bushes 1 or 2 piece? ie do they need pressing in
