GTI problems
« on: 14 June 2012, 12:45 »
I've had my GTI since March 2012 and so far I've had:

A new water pump
Wind noise fix
Gearstick greased as it was creaking
CV gaitors greased as they were noisey

It's currently with VW and their diagnosics equipment has noticed my remap  so VW UK had to be informed (apparently it's flagged up on the diags and sent to VW UK along with a full fault scan - nothing the dealer could do)

This week (and probably next) they're looking at:

Fixing bonnet alignment (done apparently)
Fixing xenon alignment as they blind everyone else on the road at the mo (also done apparently)
P0299 code - underboost - probably due to map but wanted them to pressure test the system and check common things like DV, PCV
Wastegate rattle (part ordered and being fitted today)
And most importantly, the clutch slip I've experienced, they've finally noticed some fluid leaking from the gearbox, not sure what as they left me a message but it's being stripped down and a few parts have been ordered in advance, so hopefully I can get that resolved once and for all! But of an awkward one with the remap though as I don't want them to strip it all down and then invoice me as VW UK won't cover the warranty

Time shall tell.

Also the door seals are very noisey but I'll sort them out myself

Not a great VW experience, and I must say worse than my Audi experience and that made me get rid of the A3, so next car is definitely looking like it won't be VAG!

What a pain must be very annoying and dissappointing. You must also part if the unlucky few that have a Friday car. Either that or I am the lucky one as I have never experienced any of these issues with my two MK6's. Hope these issues are resolved soon. Remind of who's map you are running as some claim they cannot be detected or is that just BS?
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox

Also I'm hoping the fluid leaking is brake fluid from the slave because if it's oil then I think they will blame the map frying the gearbox or something like that

All the none oily bits will be covered; wastegate rattle is standard on the MK6's so that will be covered too

Fingers crossed they cover the rest.....

Just had a word with them and they said it wasn't oil it was brake fluid e.g. slave leaking. They're going to check the clutch and if there's any signs of wear, get it replaced too as they can blame it on the leaky slave. Can't fault em so far!

Any faults found due to re-map should be covered by whoever did the map? :undecided:

In an ideal world, probably, but when the cars in bits sat in VW and they demand money to put it back together, who knows what would happen

Hopefully it never comes to that and it's just a leaky slave that's fixed and VW UK say nowt!
