flushed antenna and no more signal

when i had my car sprayed i got the naff wing ariel flushed off. Now i havnt got a ignal at all.

Can i just earth the signal wire to the car ground or will this short out something


prefer a hidden ariel and something very powerfull

mount it in one of the rear quarters
or point it down inside the wing

its just a cut wire now. do i need to attach it to something or just point it down ?

rear quater sounds good but i cant be arsed to lengthen the wire. is there any booster in shops?

not sure if they are any good but you can  get the ones that run up your a-pillar and mount along the top of your windscreen, my sister has one because some sh!thead kept snapping everybody's aerials off. she seems happy with it....
