If you don't want to be faced with the constant fight to get a fair deal then it's pretty simple to buy a car online have it delivered to your door. We hound customers about products because there is a profit opportunity of course but we also have to being regulated by the fsa. Your situation with being lied to about allocation is the extreme and something I wouldn't expect to happen very often just one bad egg.
I agree mate, I ordered my A3 online and it was brilliant, however I found that my local Audi dealer weren't too happy about doing warranty work on the car as I hadn't ordered it from them, hence why I bought my GTI from a local(ish) dealer so I could really push them to fix any problems - and the amount of problems it's had I'm glad I did! I'll add to what you said about being lied to, it's not something I'd usually expect, however from this specific dealership (or their parent company in general) I would be shocked if they didn't lie or try to pull a fast one!

The salesman who I ordered the car off knew I wouldn't want any of the other products but I would imagine it's very easy money if you get someone who's easily persuaded to buy things like this, piece of mind and all that,
