Map sensor on inlet manifold

Hi all I need to no if it's ok to mount the map sensor on my mates aum 1.8t on the inlet manifol. Just need to no if it's will be ok post throttle body and will work just the same? Cheers in advance for any help.

Because he has fitted an eBay front mount and they don't has a hole for them, and he don't want to buy the forge map splice in pipe if we can get away with putting it on the inlet.

In short no. Keep it before the throttle body.
You can purchase map sensor flanges ready to weld in or sections of pipes already welded with map sensor flange, I think Forge sells it too.

Yea knew forge did one but was hoping to get away with just putting it on the inlet. Any real reason for it not working?

Post throttle sees a vacuum at idle and closed throttle, pre throttle is always atmospheric or positive pressure. Ecu won't like - boost... Has to be before.

Also needs to be after the sic or Fmic as you will always get a pressure drop through an intercooler so the near to the throttle you can get it the better the result, if you for arguments sake put it by the turbo outlet you could experience upto 10% difference in pressure between there and throttle thus causing a rich condition...
