shakey steering at 80mph

was on motorway today doing like 80/85mph steering was a little shakey...what could be causing this? got new wheels on so there balanced as far as im aware...anythin else could cause this!?

What car and wheels? The sweet spot for out of balance vibration on my Mk3 GTi with original wheels was 75-80 mph. I too thought the vibration was so bad it must be a drive shaft or something.

But balancing at a Protyre place sorted it.  :smiley:

It is also the cheapest place to start...

probably not balanced correctly. Are you sure you weren't doing 70mph instead of 85?  :rolleyes: :lipsrsealed: :wink:

If non standard alloys check and make the spiggot rings are fitted all ok.

 Check centerbore size make sure spiggot rings are correct if wheels are non standard,are you running non hubcentric spacers?

yeah they are non standard.... and only one of my wheels has a spacer on and its not a hubcentric one!

mine dose this when there out of balance  usally because there full of mud.

tho last time it was beacsuse the tyer pikey balanced them without removeing the mud  then i pressure washed them   ooops
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
