Need some Help?!
« on: 05 June 2012, 21:37 »
Hi, I'm kind of new here some just need some support to start myself up.

I am looking to buy a GOLF GTI 1.8 TURBO, 20V, 2002 (52 Plate) however I went to view it and there was a strange noise upon start-up, when the car was cold. To me it sounded like it wasn't the engine, or turbo and was neither the timing belt however it sounded as if it was coming from between the gap between the engine and the timing belt, or from underneath the engine, it was a bit strange, but only lasted no more then 15 seconds and then went. If you asked me to describe it, I can't really describe the sound which I know doesn't help at all, but was just wondering whether it was a common problem.

If anyone could help and get back to me ASAP, I would appreciate it. Thanks Ben

Nope they tend to be noisy for the first 30secs (they switch off then), mine is and I just live with it.

That's what I am assuming the noise is, just a bit sceptical on the noise because Turbo's are generally quiet. Haven't bought it yet, but if it doesn't cost too much, may just gamble and see what happens.

Cheers lads.

Well I want a specific specification etc... and just being really picky. However what I want rarely comes about and if it does, it goes instantly.

Unless you know someone selling a GOLF GTI Turbo (20V), Black, 3 Door, No mahogany interior, or Red or Blue Seats?

Now tell me I'm not picky.
