Just run the figures through Compare The Market and pleasantly surprised, best quote for my wife and I is £326 FC, good benchmark for when our Tesco renewal comes through.

Just for reference can anyone recommend one of the mainstream insurers who won't pull my pants down with a remap, exhaust, intake and basic suspension and brake mod, I am thinking someone like Sky may offer best value?

I was with them a year ago and asked for a quote with cat-back upgraded alloys and intake and they wudnt insure any mods exceeding £500, needless to say I didn't stay with them very long...

I'm with Volkswagen Insurance as they came out the cheapest surprisingly at £870 at 22 with 6 points but they don't allow any modifications whatsoever

Being an old fart really does have some benefits, I live in East Anglia and I pay £225 fully comp with Direct Line.

Yeah when I rang them re the map they just wanted to know the percentage power increase and that was it. They also said that other mods are insured and all I need to do is ring them.

Maybe its just me but I've never seen the point in Protected no claims as you have to declare an accident / claim in the last 3 or 5 years to new companies.  The only way it protects you is if you stay with the same company who will no doubt put the price up anyway?

To the OP, where you stay is definitely a big factor in price. I'm just over £200 for the 2.0 GT and the price comparison sites were given me £234 for the GTI and £230 for the R (cheaper for some reason)

My daughter who passed her test at 17 and bought a Clio only cost her £600 and something for her own insurance.

.........x2. Protected no claims waste of time. You make a claim & even if you have protected you'r no claims bonus the price goes up.Save you'r money.

Ah okay, we'll they either change there stance on modding( i.e what your aloud to mod/up'd the price) or I got fobbed off lol...either way I get a cheaper price nowadays...
