cutting plate down.

got my us spec rubstrip half sorted as you can see from the pics


however the plate looks a bit big. if i cut the top and two edges off, is that still legal? (not tampering with letter spacing)

also the bs number is under the a so that will be still on...

I believe they have to be a standard size so any trimming could lead to problems.

cutting / trimming anything off it will make it illegal.  :smiley:

I think you're trying to over complicate things, put the plate back to central, but slightly lower, maybe even fit a square type plate, as a US spec car would have. Make some brackets up that mount to the bumper, but hold the plate 20mm off it, brackets should be hidden, and plate attached the the brackets with sticky pads, rather than screws... so it appears that the No plate is floating in the air, just in front of the bumper...   Less is more!
Altering that plate in any way, would just look naff!

was thinking of making some sort of bracket but wasnt sure.

also cheers for the answers, wownt be cutting it then...

another idea i had was a motorbike plate as you can get the smaller sized ones of them i belive. whats the legalities of them, can they be used on cars or not?

They are illegal on a car, not really worth the risk.

I mean did you make the rubstrip your self, or did you buy a US one? I thought the US rubstrips didn't fit unless you bought an entire US bumper... :undecided:
