Well, there we go. I've been chatting to a few people around Europe who want me to send my RNS 510 to them for repair. They're not sure whether it can be repaired or not, or whether it will need a replacement motherboard. I have just ordered a replacement motherboard for £220 delivered from Poland. I'll try it and if that doesn't fix it then I'll send it back.
Hopefully it does and then I'll see what I can do with the old motherboard. I think it would be ok if you could flash it again. I've heard about de soldering the flash memory, using a tool to flash it (if I can find someone with one) and then soldering it again.
If I can do that and it works then I can sell it and hopefully recoup some of the £220.
If not then expensive lesson learnt. I just hope it comes with a decent firmware version or it doesn't f**k up again when I have to update the firmware to be able to run the latest maps!!!
