WTF if I went to order a car and it didn't come with mats I'd tell them to p1ss right off!

That said, for the sake of a few quid, why not just get genuine. You're spending a lot on the car so no point having cheap crappy mats.

..and geniune VW mats aren't cheap and crappy?
Mine have serious heel wear on the drivers mat at 11500 miles and 2 years old.

My original Mk3 golf mats are were similarly worn at 80000 miles and 14 years old.

Agree, the VW carpet mats aren't particularly hard wearing. I find the rubber ones are better; much more durable, especially in the winter - carpet mats soaked in rain, slush and mud aren't nice.

I've got rubber mats over my carpet mats except for the drivers, which is just the rubber mat so it can but clipped in properly. My drivers carpet mat is put away so it will remain like new for ever.

Personally I hate rubber mats, look cheap and nasty.

Agreed the VW mats don't last that long before looking tatty, but I treat them as a consumable which is there to protect the cars carpet and when worn out replaced for a new set.

I wish they did the rubber GTI mats for RHD cars.

My mrs has rubber mats in her Aygo which came as std but i dislike them as any water from the sole of your shoes just sits on the mats until you remove them and shake it off...

Again car mats are a personal choice I much prefer the carpet ones...
