tuning
« on: 30 May 2012, 16:50 »
Hi there. Just thought I'd introduce myself first - recently acquired 2010 GTI Mk 6 DSG in hand. Boredom in the other.

I've been doing some reading around tuning options. My previous ride was a 350Z with 313bhp and rear wheel drive. I know it's not really a comparison but I feel the GTI is definitely missing something. Especially at the top end.

Between ABT, APR and Revo - who would provide the best package? If I have missed any other major supplier out feel free to add.

Many thanks

Revo all the way mate...not gone there myself but all the reviews are very good, and theres plenty on here that wud recommend them.

Why the change from the 350Z? That's a fair bit of power to lose...

Oh yeah, Welcome

I wouldn't, it will show up on a service and VW will void your warranty.

4 replies and all pretty much cancelled out by second opinions. Except for APR?

Ideally I would like a switch as there is still a year left under warranty.

Mr GTD: Practicality and economical issues forced me to change. I used to live in London by myself. Now I'm in the Midlands with family. I had a few run ins with GTI's on the streets of London while I had my Z (as you do) and I was impressed by their 'real world' ability. They're pretty hard f*****s to shake off!

in fairness there are pros and cons to all the mapping out there and you choice should be made on what you want out of the car and proximity to agent/dealers etc and whether you want one that is switchable

i ran a 2.0tsi rocco all be it a manual which was mapped for over 50k and never had any issues the three dealers i have used

end of the day you makes the choice, i was really under whelmed by one companies offering recently having done 20 miles in it and actually preferred the stock Ed35 lol

wrong to comment on the customer service of the three players as i have tended to deal direct and in some instances friends have not got the same level of service (and their associates) which is one of the reasons i am going down a different route on certain elements of the Ed35

Have to admit I thought I was set on a Revo map, but having read lads of different reviews now not sure whether to consider APR or Superchips
