APR can unlock ECUs. Mine is a US Spec GTI and they unlocked it. The ECU has to be removed.
Expect ALL VWs to have locked ECUs in FY12-13

strange

mine is august 2011 build and wasn't locked so it but be very recent. i was talking to the parts lad at pulman VW the other day and they bluefin GTI's and never mentioned them being locked though they won't map a TDI as the ECU has to come out.

^ Which one Durham or Sunderland? Are they seem ok as must get my slight oil leak weep looked at (Not been using the GTI past few weeks so have not hurried myself  :embarassed:)

i go to the one in durham now. sunderland will NEVER touch my car again.

the durham branch is totally different. much more professional and a nicer showroom/workshop in general.

i asked about modifications affecting warranty and servicing and they said as long as a part didn't specifically cause a problem they're not bothered.

they do bluefin there anyway so definitely not bothered about that.

FYI mine was built Feb 2012 reg'd March 2012 and the ECU wasn't locked - much to my surprise!

His is an April/May 2012 car.
