Engine check light????
« on: 26 May 2012, 19:43 »
Basically my 1.8t golf is only boosting at about 3.5psi which is 0.25bar, i've come to the conclusion that my engine is in limp mode but there is no engine light showing on the clocks. I have taken the clocks out and i can't see any sign of tampering before i owned it but when i turn the ignition off then back on again, the engine light doesnt come on then either, not even for a second like they do on most cars. Any ideas on the light or the low boost??

PS i haven't got a boost leak, i've had that checked at a garage.

I'm booked in at PSI tuning tomorrow for vagcom so hopefully that will tell me whats going on.

DAZ whats an n75 valve? is that a common fault on these cars?

Cheers guys.

its a boost solunoid problems with that will cause boost issues its a small black thing near the maf with a couple silicon pipes coming off it and a plug going into it check the wires connected to the plug mine snapped before

Cheers daz.
I went to psi tuning and had it checked on vagcom and they cleared 9 faults. 7 of them were nothing and stayed off but the other 2 were maf and coolant temp sensor. i fitted the original airbox and fitted a new green temp sensor but that made no difference to the boost at all. could i still be boosting low because the faults for maf and temp sensor are still on the ecu or is it just the engine check light that would make it boost low?

Ps there was nothing showing up about a faulty n75 valve but i removed that completely and fitted a bleed valve boost controller in place of the n75 and my car is now boosting 7 psi but won't boost over that despite how far i adjust the controller so is there something else that controls the boost aswell?

PS when i let the clutch out from traffic lights etc i can hear a creaking, could this be the dog bone bush underneath?

what were the 2 codes
temp sensor wont cause boost issues
maybe new maf needed
prob worth getting a new n75 rather than the bleed valve controller  :undecided:

They did'nt write the codes down for me just told me what was wrong. the temp sensor was reading -42 degrees lol not good. is it true about different codes on the n75 for running different boost? if so, what codes run what boost and how do you find out what n75 valve i have?
