I wasted some time restoring an huge Yank Tank from the early '70's, a muscle car no less, with a 7.8L engine. That was in my twenties. I now realise every second of that job was wasted time that I should have spent womanising, boozing, trail riding, starting a business, writing a book...
Perhaps fair enough for a genuine muscle car but to do the same for an old Land Rover is just silly. The only old LR's you see round here are driven by bald, fat, red faced, grubby pensioners. Ex farm workers or sold-up small farmers. Not cool in Kendal.
