Overboosting actuator adjustment

I know...I know you shouldnt touch it but somebody beat me to it (psi tuning in stoke :sick:)

Its constantly overboosting by like 400 - so. I was gonna check that they actually adjusting it the right direction - in terms of screwing it down towards the floor, this allows less movement on the arm (yes?) so should limit the amount of boost - whereas screwing back towards the turbo will allow more movement and more boost?

Why did they adjust it? You got logs to show that it is over boosting? Is it overboosting by 400psi through out the range? Hit limp mode yet?

Christ to it was over boosting by 400 psi there won't be much of the car left :grin:

1000 Millibar = 14.5psi

400 millibar = 5.8psi
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

on 400millbar lol

tested actuator today and it does move although i think its been adjusted towards the turbo meaning it can move more = more boost  :laugh:?

The actuator should not need to be adjusted from its stock factory position.

400mb over boost for a split second is fine and I would say 99% of 1.9TDi engines see this overshoot, buts its an issue when the N75 duty is at 94+% trying to bring the boost down across most of the rpm range.

If the over shoot is constant then I would say you have one of the following.

Sticky VNT
Faulty boost control valve
Issues with the VAC system
Blocked cat
Actuator diaphragm got a whole

Hi Nick, I spoke to you a week or so ago. Been meaning to come see you but just starting work full time  :undecided:

Getting the cat cut out next week  :wink:
You guys fitted a new actuator when I had my VNT clean at end of last year and I've driven it hard since

The arm seems to move when I tested it using the EGR solenoid by about 1cm (at a guess) and I've been through 2 N75 valves.

So i'm hoping the cat will sort it, if not I may need to look at the actuator arm - all thanks to PSI tuning (how can they be in business never mind sponsor a forum)


edit: I purposely created a boost leak earlier and gave it a rev, and i still got no black smoke - other than this is there anything else to point to the cat?

if i remember right it was requesting (abs) 2000mb across the whole band with 400mb overshoot the whole way, n75 maxed out. i only got chance to give the car a quick spin around the block.

remapped by ebay :lipsrsealed:

Can remaps do that? I'd have thought that the map would be requesting X and getting specified as X+400 then something mechanically isn't right?

Plenty of people seem to be having a great time with blacksmoke remaps

Plus theres the issue that PSI found it overboosing and into limp mode prior to the remap, but i suppose for diagnosing sake it would be best to revert to stock
