Big thank you to sundaydriver
« on: 25 May 2012, 17:15 »
I was lucky enough to buy sundaydriver's old Milltek when he returned his GTI to standard.
It was immaculate, well packaged and bought at a superb price - so thanks for that Steve.

After a quick buff up and sorting out some of the black ceramic coated VW Racing tips, I got round to fitting it today.

It fitted a treat...and I'm pleased with it.
More de-blinging completed.

Job done:

..but gaining motorcycles.

Very nice, how did you get the VWR tips?

I thought they only did cat back and turbo back kits.

I pestered and pestered Sam @ VWR until he agreed to sell me a pair of black tips.

They were the 70mm tips though, for the full turbo back exhaust, so I had to get creative with the hacksaw and break out the TIG welder and stainless rods to make the black tops fit my road biased system.
The black tips are 60mm, with 70mm 'increasers' welded on to suit the turbo back 'race' system.
I cut the '60-70mm increasers off, cut the 60mm to 50mm 'reducers' off the standard chrome tips, and welded the 50-60mm reducers onto the black tips.
Half a days work later...job done!

How did you get on with the Carbonspeed intake?, did you manage to source the missing bits?

I ordered some black Silicone 'bump' joining hoses to suit and made a bracket by TIGing a stainless Jubilee Clip to a stainless L shaped bracket.
Works a treat.

The carbon polished up well too...I'll be fitting that bad boy very soon...
