Use your Octavia as a donor car, that would be a good move.

Engine, looms, ecu.  Then u want a mk3 16v gearbox. And if it was me, carrado pedal box, mk3 shifter. Id also go for g60 front brakes

I would run a mk3 derv box (lo ng ratio) it would help with calming the wheel spin and defo fit a good lsd mine was way too wheel spin happy before

brakes bigger the better im running 305 mm with 4 pot bembos best purchase ever u will not regret spending money on good brakes no point having power if u carnt stop it

The best option is to use the corrado pedal box (mk3 pedal box can fit but has to be modified more than corrado pedal box) because it uses full hyraulic clutch setup. The cable-hydro setup works but it gives a heavier feel than full hydro. All cars are now hydro clutch so if you are going to the effort of the swap you may as well do the full hydaulic setup, it's better. New G60 280mm brakes are more than adequate for road use and allow you to still fit 15" wheels. Bigger brakes obviously have more stopping power but unless you are tracking the car I don't think it's necessary.
If money is not too much of an issue an LSD and diesel box are def worth doing. My mate had a 260bhp 1.8t mk1 and he found it spun up very easily without an LSD.
Rad will probably need some mounts making up for it or you can use a corrado vr6 rad which is a straight swap.
Not sure about the subframes, may need to fabricate/change engine mount positions.

Doing this at the minute, but haven't got that far, stripping down the 1.8t loom is a right ballache.

Mine is a 1.3 model, which comes with some of the bits you already need.

I'm going mk3 subframe and rear beam as wont fit on 1.3 subframe, using a mk3 16v gearbox & driveshafts, hydro-cable clutch using the Seat actuator.

You can use the 02j box and buy some 100mm output flanges, although need different driveshafts *heard* they are mk1 caddy items.

Brakes are being used from the 16v mk3 too although probably using the mk4 rear calipers.

All what I have heard, but got some people around that know what they are doing
