can someone tell me how to get the engine cover off my 1.6 16v 2001 please, i need to change the water temp sensor and hope it will give me a little more room, thanks.

put foot on it and pull hard as you can  from top  :smiley:

 should be clips mate on corners twist them and they will pop up  :wink:

i think they pull off as these guys said. its the 1.4 thats got 6 mm allen keys in them isnt it?

thanks, it does pull off, it was just really tight. im changing the temp sensor because the temp guage on the dash doesnt work, im hoping this will get the guage working again, if it doesnt and i buy a set of clocks off ebay can i just swap them? will they pick up my mileage reading from ecu? im told the clocks might need to be coded, thanks.

Is it running right? A common fault is the temperature sensor! As for the clocks they will need coding back in with your current mileage. A few lads on here can do it. I have some 1.6 clocks hanging about if you temp sensor doesn't resolve the problem.
