thanks jv

September 2010 the start

Originally I owned a 1.6 8v mk4 Golf. I was looking for months for a tdi gt but couldn't find one within 3k. I decided on getting a 1.6. I owned it for 6 months, lowered it on kws, tinted the windows and audi a8 18s but I always felt let down by it as I had always had 3 doors, it didn't handle well and had no low down power. Thae diff and clutch went and so I was left with a situation. 1.6 gearboxes are like gold dust but the 1.8 t boxes along with everything else on that model seem to be rich in parts so we went on ebay to look for conversions.

my first golf -

We saw down in sommerset a whole 1.8 T conversion including the box, drivershaft, clocks, fuel tank, sub frames, ecu, loom - everything for £750 so we went down and had a look. It was in a pearlescent silver 3 door shell with an anniversary kit. A powerflow cat back exhaust, tinted windows, full recaro interiror, audi tt wheels so I decided I wanted everything. He then said why not just have the whole car for a grand. The only damage was little to drivers door seal. It was involved in a cat d and therefore had no fromt bumper and the air con was damaged. Mileage was 96k. The guy I bought it from was a a collector of gtis, corrados and vr6s he had an industrial estate full of them and the car had been laying there for around a year ready to be broken up and scraped and the engne sold!

To get it through the MOT I had to fit a new front bumper it was a different silver the satin one the tdis use here it is at lakeside in essex back in feb:

This was a full 12 months a go it would take me untill the end of the year for 21st to be able to get insured. Anyway since it had been on the road this year I did the frequent oil changes with 5/40 quantum as the oil was so dirty.

- Replaced the Oil pick up pipe, cleaned out the sump,

- did a cambelt, tens, and water pump change.

- Replaced thermostat and temp sensor

- Flushed the intercooler and cleaned the throttle body.

- Smoothed air box and did decat for a while bu it's back on as it never felt good, and removed the power flow middle box. Although it was fun with an air filter to with the exhaust popping all the time and did sound really rude.

- Dewipered & debadged

- replaced the lower arm bushes and links as they were perished. I still have to do the rear beam bushes and top mounts.

photo of the crank when replacing the pick up pipe and cleaned out sump -

I then fitted my Forge 007p

I also replaced the number plate lights with leds and front bulbs with clear bulbs off the bay!

Whilst it was on the road and had a girl friend they cost money so i could never do any work to it but thankfully i've been a good boy and been single 6 months and since then I replaced both front wings and fitted a new r32 front bumper and had the bonnet repsprayed. And transfered my private plate over from my other golf and also the black front vw badge.

Once again up at lakeside in essex last month:

I was so happy with the result because all of the body shops I had been to for a quote all said that it needed to go on a jig but I jsut spent hours one saturday playing around with the wings, bonnet and even cross member to get to align straight and it's near enough there so much better because when I first bought it you couldn't even shut the drivers door without a clonk.

The vacuum pipe I found to be split so I simply replaced it with a bentley one haha.

And these are the wheels I want!!:

My insurance is sky high even though I'm still 21 because I lost my no claims and have points but I love the car too much.

But I'm tired of a slow golf so the car is booked in on October 8th to have a a custom remap at R-TECH. I'm hoping to be in the 200s and I'll be really disappointed if it's 180-190!

new magnetic sump plug just arrived from awesome gti to collect all the metal fillings after the remap lol

October 2010

Ok had car remaped today up in leicestershire today at R-Tech.

The car out of the factory is as you know 150hp standard mine made 155hp with 160 ft lbs of torque on the rollers.

After being mapped it then rose to 188hp but now has 221 ft lbs of torque

At first I was disapointed that I was only on 188hp but he said it's one of the strongest and torquest AGU 1.8Ts from standard he has seen in ages which is good to here.
But power doesn't seem to be everything because the torque increase is huge. Apparently I've made what a 180hp one would make in terms of torque after a stage 1 remap and I have 15 ft lbs more torque than a seat leon cupra r with the BAM 1.8T engine that has a bigger K04 turbo and 6 speed so my car has crazy torque against other vehicles.

The power delivery is just incredible now in comparison, smooth other the whole rev range but chucks you back in your seat and wheelspins with torque steer between 3-5k. Over the moon.

december 2011

open heart surgery starting now. basically found quater panel has been replaced before, wasn't waxe oiled, sealent or no protection or nothing just bodged up. so arch has rusted and seal underneath crumberling. it's all been grinded down to bare metal, a new a3 seal has been ftted underneath ,today it has been welded up, photos of that on monday...it's also going to  have near enough a full respray by then....

that was all done then it was the prepping.

with my friends from the body shop ahahahahaha
