Launch Control..

How is Launch control fitted.? This was the big conversation over the weekend between me and a few mates.

So just to clear up and argument.. How isit installed on 'JDM' cars such as Civic.. Prelude etc etc. A few lads said it was mapped into the ECU but others were saying you have to buy a control unit that you install in the cockpit.

Any info.?

Depends on the car. im sure mk4s can have it programmed into there ecu. but i suppose cars with older ecus would have to have a controll unit as the basic ecu wouldnt be able to cope

7.5 ecu onwards have it if the ecu tuner puts it in. Early mk4 dont have it due to the Bosch 3.8 ecu. All it is, is at a specific rev range you can trigger the ecu to demand a load and pre spool the turbo meaning your on full power and your off and the traction control does the rest. I imagine other cars do it alike whether na, super or turbo charged.

basically depends if the ecu can be tweaked to do it or not. If not then you have to achieve it by other means. Like said the Bosch 7.5 ecu can ,not sure what other ecu's can and can't do.

Just as ive seen a Honda Prelude 2.2 Vtec for sale.. Up for £500 but rekon i could get it for about £300. Got 1 month MOT but no Tax. Tidy car.

Was thinking about buying it and making it in to a JDM show car. I did abit more research and found a '2 Step' system (Anyone know anything about them) that causes the car to Pop and bang with a few flames.

I had launch control with KPRO on my CTR. Used to force the revs to sit at a set rpm when the clutch was pressed.

In all me7.1 512k files I have tried to do there is one 1x1 map missing to trigger the full LC settings.  but saying that I found away to do it on Med9 with one map short by using another maps to fool the base limiter?   I will need to play a bit more but the 7.1 stuff we dont see much of, just in ARZ Golf Ibiza cupra and early TT S3
