Help pleeaase!!
« on: 01 May 2012, 21:48 »
Hi all.

I swear no-one ever looks in the ice section, im about to tear my hair out!

I bought a Kenwood dpx313y, double din thing.

Fitted fine, when im stationary its fine. However whenever i go over a BIG bump or turn a corner at speed the Unit goes into protection mode.

All the wires are fine - no shorting out. Internal problem?

I sprayed up all my dash trim gloss black to, looked really good. Now ive taken the cd player out a few times ive scratched it all up, not a good day!

I try to check it but I miss the odd topic, does your head unit have the 16pin to ISO harness? I had a problem before now with a Sony harness, the 16pin connector a couple of the small connectors in it would give intermittant connection, in my case the sound would cut to one or more speakers when driving and sometimes the unit would power off, swapped harness over and it was sorted, worth a check?

Edit: other than that could be internal fault where connector is soldered to pcb or some other internal fault, hard to say without inspection, check the harness as above first, is the unit in warranty?

Thanks for your reply buddy.

Seems a feesable explenation. Ill have a check tomorrow, i work in a motor factors so will try one off the shelf!

To be honest it sounds like a sensor or connection inside the unit is faulty. Would i be right in thinking if i took it out, left it plugged in and shook it about it should go into protection mode?

Yeah bought one off of ebay 12 months warranty, buy cheap buy twice though i suppose!

Have you changed any wiring at speaker side of things? fitted components/crossovers etc?
