My Progress Thread

went to town today to get a dslr and lense, ended up coming out with:

cannon eos 1100D with 18-55mm lense
a 70-300mm lense which ill proberbly use for shooting at a few racing events this year such as at croft and stuff
2 uv light filters
sd cards and the usual
spare battery
bag
3 years damage protection on it all

and proberbly some other stuff that ive forgot to list.

ah well, spent a little more than i planned but still happy with it. plus 0% finance so spreading the cost out over 6 months

spent the last few hours having a look through everything on the camera, and getting used to it. now just need to wait for the weather to improve a bit cause i dont fancy shooting outdoors in the rain 

going to download that book that everyone raves about tonight and have a read through that and will post up some pics once the weather pics up cause after all theres only so many times you can take a picture of a deodrant bottle sat on your desk

ok so decided to make this into a  my progress thread. be interesting to see my progress. went out tonight for a play for about 45 mins. will upload the best onto here and as per always coments and critisism welcome. and will also put up a link to my flikr once ive uploaded them all so you can have a look if you want (they will proberbly be uploaded again in a day or two, going to have a mess on with ps with some cause quite alot have orange dots on them, im assuming from the street lighting, so will try to photoshop them out.)

flikrs decided to have a fit so ive uploaded them all too image shack

some are a little over exposed and grainy and stuff so ill try sort them in photoshop at some point, equally some are a little under exposed.

You seem to be liking that gate ^ 

It's a nice idea to use something in the foreground. The first shot is probably the best in terms of composition and focus, but it's too dark. It's already very grainy (it's actually under-exposed not over-exposed) so if you tried to lighten it in Photoshop it probably wouldn't work so well.
I would try that shot again, but in better light, slightly earlier in the evening. The good light goes quite quickly in the evening, so you need to be quick to make the most of the "golden hour" (see here).
