Induction Kit Heat Shield & VCDS Log
« on: 28 April 2012, 20:55 »
I have been trying a few different intake setups recently being a standard smoothed airbox, enclosed induction kit and a Jetex cone with 3" air feed from the lower front grill.

I can't find all the logs but do remember the Jetex performing best with a peak g/s of 186 and the worst being the enclosed kit which is a shame because it had the least amount of turbo lag and felt awesome low end but was seeing lowest peak MAF readings.

Found a seller on ebay who makes heat shields for the S3 which do fit the MK4 and for £30 worth a try. Have covered the shield with heat reflective tape as well which by all means is not exactly pretty to look at but functional - did a few runs today and afterwards the cone still felt cold where as without the shield it would be warm.

RUN 2 - 3rd Gear

(G28)   (G70)   BHP
/min    g/s   (EST)
3560   146.56   183.20

6120   188.39   235.49
6200   189.83   237.29
6160   192.42   240.53

Unfortunately had to cut the 3rd gear run short as was running out of track but very very happy with the results - highest peak reading from the MAF I have seen on this car and using the x1.25 calculations 240.5 bhp at 6160 is quite impressive for a K03s.

I'll be getting it on a dyno soon but going off the logs seems like £30 well spent

Exact same shield i've got (and filter I think)

Is that the JETEX filter with the 70/80mm neck?

Glad to see it makes good power

Gonna give this set up a go. Gonna use a pipercross foam filter though. Will it still be ok?
