Been researching dump vavles and....
« on: 25 April 2012, 09:25 »
Hey guys,

Firstly thankyou for clicking this topic, on saturday I will be picking up my first ever turbo car, mk4 1.8T like most people that get a turbo im interested in getting a dump vavle for it at some point.

Now I have read that there are, atmos ones, recurit ones, cheap ones and expensive ones.
I have also read that done wrong, could cause problems and even worse MPG.

Now as much as I would like one, if its going to come at a cost to my engine i wont do it, I plan on really looking after this car, using only super fuel, full tank with petrol magic (the turbo one) each month, and service every 6 months.

I also have read that alot of people see dump vavles as a "chav" thing, i am in no way a chav, and to be honest im supprized a "chav" would insure a turbo as im certain they would have no year no claims

Any advice would be brilliant.

Thankyou
Nino

Best and only "dump valve" I would use is the forge 007 or 008p re-circulating valve and nothing else.
1.6-1.8t AGU K03s, Forge actuator, Forge 007p, turbo back exhuast, Ths front mount, Catch can, 5 piece silicone boost pipes and creation sports tip. Stage 2 atm 232bhp 270lbs. Waiting for custom mapping :-)

friend of mine put one of those on his TT. 2 weeks later the seals had deteriorated. They may look the same as the forge ones but the quality just isn't there in my opinion.

I was going to get one but got lucky with a genuine Forge 007

Yes you cannot run a dump valve it needs to be a recirculating type

They get really good reviews on Briskoda and other forums, was just about to get one but was offered a s/h Forge at a really good price.
